Anime Films With Award Recognition

Award season has just about wrapped up and I thought to myself, “What better time to post a list of anime films* that had award recognition than now?” So that’s what I’m doing.

I won’t just be listing films that won, but any that received a nomination. Of course, there are always films that don’t get the recognition they deserve, so I’ve referenced a bunch of awards (and a couple lists cause I like to bend my own rules) to hopefully lessen the chance of that happening in this post. If I’ve missed an important award, just lemme know!

* Anime films will be defined as any anime feature longer than forty minutes. Anything under that length I’m classifying as a short.
** Yes, this is a list and not an official award. I just wanted to sneak in largely regarded classics like The Tale of the White Serpent that had less (or absolutely no) awards around to be gifted to them, unless, of course, I’m simply ignorant to those awards’ existence.

Have you picked a film from this list and grabbed some popcorn? Let me know if you’re planning to watch one and fill me in on which ones you already love! And if you’ve somehow watched all of these… holy guacamole, that’s incredibly impressive.
